What is the best and fasted way to learn to play electric guitar?

I just got a guitar and looking for ways to learn to play this damn thing. im thinking of getting lessons in the place I bought my guitar, but id just like to go once a month because there fawking expensive …. soo in the meantime what should I do to earn a bit of skill? rather not say here I do not want to take the easy way

The way we started playing simple songs of my favorite bands, go online and search for your chips.
