How can we advance guitar playing ability further?

I've been playing about two years and would like to move forward on the guitar. I discovered that the songs I really want to play tend to be beyond my ability So what advice can you give? What should I look into learning? I have had the experience of two years, but I leave the school next year, so I probably wont get more lessons

Start listen to new types of music that will help influence their style of play. Some good examples include Hendrix, Clapton, The Who, just try to listen to new types of music. Usually listen to deathcore and such, but still look to other musical styles to expand my style. Moreover, for the songs you have trouble with if is simply the speed and precision, to play the song at a slower pace, the work is very slowly until you can play the track clean and in good rhythm. The Speed is a byproduct of precision, always remember that!
